Miss Sophia's Diary

Miss Sophia's Diary, also known as The Diary of Miss Sophie, is a confessional fictional diary by the Chinese author Ding Ling, written in 1927. The story centers on a young woman who has tuberculosis and has left her family for Beijing, struggling with her identity as the narrative unfolds through first-person diary entries recounting her thoughts and emotions, particularly about her relationships, sexuality and inner desires. This form of writing conveys something of the daily struggle of a modern woman in China.
