A poem by the American poet Langston Hughes, written in 1925 and first published that year in the Urban League magazine Opportunity, before becoming the title poem of his 1926 debut collection of the same name. It renders the rhythm and feeling of blues music in verse form through a Harlem pianist's late-night performance, and it is regarded as a foundational work of the Harlem Renaissance's engagement with African American vernacular music.
